چکیده

Heuristics are a crucial component in modern planning systems. In optimal multiagent planning the state of the art is to compute the heuristic locally using only information available to a single agent. This approach has a major deficiency as the local shortest path can arbitrarily underestimate the true shortest path cost in the global problem. As a solution, we propose a distributed version of a state-of-the-art LMCut heuristic. We show that our distributed algorithm provides estimates provably equal to estimates of the centralized version computed on the global problem. We also evaluate the algorithm experimentally and show that on a number of domains, the distributed algorithm can significantly improve performance of a multiagent planner.

Cost optimal planning with LP-based multi-valued landmark heuristic

Landmark based heuristics are among the most accurate current known admissible heuristics for cost optimal planning. Disjunctive action landmarks can be considered as at-least-one constraints on the actions they contains. In many planning domains, there are many critical propositions which have to be established for a number of times. Previous landmarks fail to express this kind of general card...

Potential Heuristics for Multi-Agent Planning

Distributed heuristic search is a well established technique for multi-agent planning. It has been shown that distributed heuristics may crucially improve the search guidance, but are costly in terms of communication and computation time. One solution is to compute a heuristic additively, in the sense that each agent can compute its part of the heuristic independently and obtain a complete heur...

When Abstractions Met Landmarks

Abstractions and landmarks are two powerful mechanisms for devising admissible heuristics forions and landmarks are two powerful mechanisms for devising admissible heuristics for classical planning. Here we aim at putting them together by integrating landmark information into abstractions, and propose a concrete realization ofions, and propose a concrete realization of this direction suitable f...

Landmarks, Critical Paths and Abstractions: What's the Difference Anyway?

Current heuristic estimators for classical domain-independent planning are usually based on one of four ideas: delete relaxations, critical paths, abstractions, and, most recently, landmarks. Previously, these different ideas for deriving heuristic functions were largely unconnected. We prove that admissible heuristics based on these ideas are in fact very closely related. Exploiting this relat...

Sensible Agent Technology Improving Coordination and Communication in Biosurveillance Domains

Planning landmarks are facts that must be true at some point in every solution plan. Previous work has very successfully exploited planning landmarks in satisficing (non-optimal) planning. We propose a methodology for deriving admissible heuristic estimates for cost-optimal planning from a set of planning landmarks. The resulting heuristics fall into a novel class of multi-path dependent heuris...
